Description
A powerful piece of primitive craftsmanship, this tall cylindrical vessel was hewn from a single solid log. Originating from the Naga tribes of Northeast India, it was traditionally used as a grain measure for rice or a storage container for brewing. The exterior features hand-carved bands of geometric zigzag motifs, which often symbolize water, mountains, or protection in tribal iconography. The wood has an "oxidized" finish—a raw, matte, sun-bleached patina. At 20 inches tall, it is the perfect size to sit on the floor next to a fireplace or a reading chair. It serves as an incredible dry vase for tall, structural botanicals like dried branches.
