Description
This monumental vase is a tour-de-force of the Jingtai Blue (cloisonné) technique. Standing nearly three feet tall, it mimics the form of an ancient archaic bronze Hu vessel, complete with heavy, stylized dragon handles flanking the neck. The artisan has soldered thousands of thin copper wires to the metal body to create "cloisons" (cells), which are then filled with mineral enamels and fired. The design features a dense, scrolling lotus vine motif in vibrant blues, greens, and reds against a dark, bronzed background. Bands of Ruyi heads (scepters) and stylized plantain leaves decorate the neck and foot, creating a piece that feels both imperial and historically rooted.
